BUDGET: 10 crore INR and above (USD1.48 million and above)

Project Overview

SI delivered a large-scale enterprise AV transformation for Citi Bank at its Chennai campus, creating a future-ready collaboration ecosystem across a 2.25 lakh sq. ft. facility spanning nine floors. The project involved the design, deployment and integration of standardized AV solutions across 135 collaboration spaces, including executive boardrooms, meeting rooms, huddle spaces, divisible training rooms, amphitheatres, town halls, reception areas and centralized AV operations.

Designed around a “”One Collaboration Experience”” philosophy, the solution provides a consistent, Zoom-enabled user experience regardless of room size or function. Cisco Room Bar systems, Extron control and automation, centralized monitoring, content distribution and intelligent power management were integrated to simplify room operation while ensuring enterprise-grade performance.

Delivered through a carefully planned multi-phase execution, the solution provides a scalable digital workplace that enhances collaboration, improves operational efficiency and supports the client’s long-term business and sustainability objectives.

What did the client want to achieve?

Citibank aimed to create a modern, enterprise-wide workplace collaboration environment that would support hybrid working while maintaining global technology standards across its Chennai campus.

The client sought to standardize collaboration experiences across all meeting spaces, ensuring employees could enjoy the same intuitive interface and workflow regardless of room type. Zoom was to be adopted as the primary collaboration platform, supported by simple room controls and reliable conferencing technology.

In addition, Citibank wanted centralized monitoring and management of AV systems to reduce operational complexity, improve system uptime and simplify maintenance. The solution also needed to support a wide range of collaboration environments, from everyday meeting rooms to training spaces, executive boardrooms and large town hall venues.

Scalability and sustainability were equally important objectives. The infrastructure had to accommodate future expansion while minimizing equipment footprint and energy consumption through intelligent automation. To create a future-ready workplace with seamless collaboration, higher productivity and a consistent user experience.

Scope of work your company was involved in

SI was responsible for the complete design, engineering, supply, installation, integration, programming, testing, commissioning and user training for the enterprise-wide AV infrastructure across the Chennai campus.

The project covered 135 collaboration spaces comprising executive boardrooms, huddle rooms, medium and large meeting rooms, divisible training rooms, amphitheatres, town hall areas, reception display systems and centralized content distribution environments.

SI deployed standardized Zoom-enabled collaboration systems using Cisco Room Bars, integrated with Extron control and automation to deliver a consistent and intuitive user experience throughout the campus. The team implemented centralized AV monitoring and management, enabling proactive system oversight and simplified maintenance from a dedicated operations centre.

Working closely with the consultant, client stakeholders, workplace teams and technology partners, SI executed the project in multiple phases while ensuring compliance with Citibank’s global AV standards and minimizing disruption to daily business operations.

What key challenges were faced?

The project presented several technical and operational challenges due to its scale, complexity and evolving workplace requirements.

One of the primary challenges was standardizing collaboration technology across 135 meeting and collaboration spaces while accommodating different room sizes, layouts and functional requirements. Maintaining a consistent user experience without compromising room-specific functionality required extensive planning and design standardization.

The project also had to be executed in multiple phases within an active corporate environment. Coordinating with workplace teams, contractors, consultants and global stakeholders while minimizing disruption to daily business operations demanded detailed scheduling and close collaboration.

Additionally, integrating conferencing platforms, centralized monitoring systems, room controls and enterprise AV infrastructure into a seamless ecosystem required extensive testing, validation and interoperability planning to ensure reliable long-term performance.

How were those challenges resolved?

SI adopted a phased and highly collaborative delivery approach to successfully overcome the project’s technical and operational challenges.

A modular design standardized collaboration technology across all 135 spaces, ensuring a consistent user experience while meeting the functional requirements of each room.

As workplace technology requirements evolved during the project lifecycle, COLCOM continuously reviewed and refined the solution in close coordination with Citibank, the consultant and technology partners. Product substitutions and technology updates were carefully evaluated to ensure compliance with the client’s global AV standards without impacting the overall project objectives.

To minimize disruption within the operational campus, installation and commissioning were executed in carefully planned phases. Close stakeholder coordination, structured project management and regular progress reviews ensured smooth execution and timely delivery.

Comprehensive testing, system validation and user acceptance processes were carried out to ensure seamless interoperability between conferencing platforms, control systems, centralized monitoring and content distribution infrastructure.

How has your work helped the client?

The completed solution has transformed workplace collaboration across Citibank’s Chennai campus by delivering a standardized, scalable and user-friendly AV ecosystem supporting more than 4,000 employees.

Employees now benefit from a consistent collaboration experience across all meeting spaces, reducing the learning curve and improving meeting efficiency. Standardized Zoom-enabled workflows enable seamless communication between in-room participants and remote teams, supporting hybrid working across the organization.

Centralized AV monitoring has significantly improved operational visibility, allowing faster issue identification, simplified maintenance and reduced system downtime. Extron-based automation has streamlined room operation while intelligent standby functionality reduces unnecessary power consumption, contributing to Citibank’s sustainability objectives and lowering operational costs.

The scalable infrastructure positions the campus for future technology expansion without requiring major redesigns, protecting the client’s long-term investment. Flexible training rooms, town hall spaces and collaboration environments provide greater versatility for meetings, employee engagement and leadership communication.

What are you most proud of about the project?

We are most proud of successfully delivering one of the largest standardized enterprise collaboration deployments in the corporate sector while maintaining simplicity for end users.

Despite integrating 135 collaboration spaces across a nine-floor campus, the solution provides a consistent and intuitive user experience regardless of room type. Achieving this level of standardization while supporting diverse meeting environments, including executive boardrooms, training rooms, amphitheatres, and town halls, required extensive planning, engineering expertise, and stakeholder collaboration.

We are equally proud of balancing technical sophistication with sustainability. Intelligent automation, centralized monitoring, and standardized AV workflows not only improve operational efficiency but also reduce energy consumption and simplify long-term support.

Most importantly, the project has delivered lasting value by creating a scalable workplace collaboration ecosystem that supports more than 4,000 users and will continue to evolve alongside Citibank’s future business needs.
